Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
Can I legally get married in another country?
A. Yes. The United States recognizes legal weddings
from all of our destination and cruise ship wedding locations.
The appropriate paperwork will be on hand for you to fill
out making everything legal and official.
Q.
If I have a destination wedding, will any guests attend?
A. We have found that our wedding couples are surprised
at the number of friends and family who are willing to travel
to a destination wedding. Our travel agents can assist all
of your wedding guests with their arrangements, and can book
blocks of hotel rooms, and group transportation.
Q.
How will I know which location is perfect for our wedding?
A. The trained coordinators at The Wedding Experience will assist you in deciding which location is right for you. Each destination has something unique to offer, and we can help you choose between the many beautiful places. Once you choose a destination, a TWE coordinator can help you select a spot that is right for your ceremony. From a sunny beach to an elegant estate house, we have a site that is perfect for you.
Q.
Who writes the wedding vows? Can I supply them?
A. Our staff of wedding professionals has prepared
hundreds of different vow programs. One of our professionals
will gladly assist you with writing your own vows and/or help
you choose from our list.
Q.
Is music supplied during the ceremony? What about the reception?
A. We supply recorded processional and recessional
music. You are more than welcome to bring your own music in
CD format. Our coordinators can work your music into the wedding
program at your request. Or consider arranging live music
for your ceremony and reception.
Q.
Will there be flowers at the ceremony?
A. We offer a wide variety of flower packages. Speak
to one of our helpful representatives and they can help you
choose the right floral package for your wedding.
Q.
Is it more expensive to get married on a cruise ship?
A. Not necessarily. Cruise ship weddings range in price
from very economical to extremely exclusive. Wedding packages
start at about $700 and the price increases as the amenities
increase.
Q.
Does the wedding take place while the ship is sailing?
A. Usually not. The majority of the on board weddings
take place while the ship is in port. This allows friends
and family members that are not sailing to join in the ceremony.
Most locations also require the ship to be docked to hold
a legal ceremony.
Q.
How many guests can I invite on board to my wedding?
A. The number of guests allowed varies by ship and
by port. Please call for information specific to your cruise.
Depending on the size of the wedding party and guest list,
appropriate facilities will be utilized on the ship. Intimate
weddings will usually take place in the ship's library while
larger parties will use the ship's dining area or the show-stage
area.
Q.
What if it rains at the time of the wedding?
A. No problem. The majority of the weddings are held
inside the ship, which will not be affected by the weather.
Q.
Will I be able to board the ship on time for my wedding?
A. Yes. Wedding parties are allowed early boarding
by the cruise lines. As soon as the ship clears Customs, we'll
get you on board and to your cabin, giving you time to get
ready for the big event.
Q.
What do I do with my wedding dress when I get on the ship?
A. The wedding party will be asked to "carry on"
everything they will need for the wedding and the first few
hours of the cruise. Your other bags will be delivered to
your cabin on embarkation day, but will not be delivered to
your cabin in time for the wedding.
Q.
Where will my wedding reception be held?
A. The location of your reception depends on the size
of your party. Each wedding party is assigned a reception
area based on the number of people in the party.
